Ten Thousand Villages®

Harmony. Made By Hand. A Fair Trade Retailer.

Men and women around the world have a simple dream - to earn an honest living, to provide for their children and to be gainfully employed in a job that brings dignity and joy. Ten Thousand Villages® partners with thousands of talented artisans in healthy business relationships.

Often referred to as "fair trade," our philosophy of helping to build a sustainable future is based on the principle that trade should have conscience. Through fair trade, artisans receive the respect, dignity and hope that comes from working hard and earning fair value for their work.

Our store welcomes you with samples of fairly-traded coffee and beautiful hand-crafted products from over 30 developing countries. Travel the world with each visit to Ten Thousand Villages® and learn how fairtrade really makes a difference. Shop with a conscience and contribute to positive environmental, social and economic change.

Each product is exquisitely handcrafted and reflects the traditions and cultures of artisans from the developing world. Feel the rhythm of international music, smell the aroma of fairly traded gourmet coffee and taste the luxuriously rich chocolate made from fairly traded cocoa beans.

Meet our friendly and knowledgeable staff and volunteers who can tell you more about the products we sell and the artisans who make them.

We are one of three Ten Thousand Villages® stores in the US that features a collection of heirloom quality, handknotted Oriental Rugs from Pakistan. Our rugs are crafted by fairly paid adults involving more than 800 families in 100 villages. When artisans are ensured fair wages, they can concentrate on their art. This shows in the high quality of their rugs.
