Community Emergency Response Team training is designed to help you prepare for an emergency or disaster. Because emergency services personnel may not be able to help you immediately, this training will provide you with basic skills to help save lives and protect your property.
The Town of Dayton will be hosting a CERT course offered by Rockingham County Fire and Rescue in partnership with Shenandoah Valley Project Impact. The CERT course, which is designed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, teaches basic skills in disaster preparedness, fire safety, first aid, terrorism awareness and crime prevention. The course is free, all materials are provided, and is offered one evening a week for seven weeks. In order to offer this training course, we need to have at least 10 participants (ages 14 & up). The course would be held this fall. If you are interested in participating in a CERT course in Dayton, please call or leave a message with Brenda Stearn at 879-2241.
Classes are also available for children (customized for various age groups), which would be great for organizations or youth groups. Please let us know if you're interested and we will be glad to make the arrangements for you.
